Inauguration of the Upgraded Palliative Care Ward at
Baptist Christian Hospital, Tezpur.
On March 2, 2025, Baptist Christian Hospital , Tezpur held a formal inauguration for its newly upgraded 15-bedded Palliative Care Ward, representing a significant enhancement in its palliative care services. This accomplishment was made possible through a strategic partnership with Rotary International and the Rotary Club of Greater Tezpur, reflecting the hospital's commitment to community collaboration.
Ceremony Highlights
The event featured attendees from the Rotary Club, Baptist Christian Hospital, and representatives from various like-minded organizations in the region. It began with an invocation and the National Anthem, establishing a solemn and respectful atmosphere for the day.
Watering of Plant Ceremony
The symbolic watering of the plant represented the commitment between Baptist Christian Hospital and the Rotary Club of Greater Tezpur for nurturing and sustaining the palliative care services. This act underscored the essence of growth, compassion, and the ongoing journey towards excellence in patient care in the region.
A vibrant dance by the talented School of Nursing students highlighted the community's heritage and the spirit of unity. This lively performance added cultural significance to the event.

An Overview of Palliative Care by Dr. Jerine Liankimi
Dr. Jerine Liankimi, Head of the Palliative Care Department, highlighted the urgent need for palliative care and the importance of early intervention, along with the services offered by the team.

Dr. Rebecca Sinate, Regional Director of the NE Region at EHA, officiated the inauguration with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by the unveiling of a commemorative stone to mark the opening of the new palliative care ward.
The official flag-off and handover of the Maruti ECCO Van, donated to the Palliative Care team, will support community outreach and home care efforts.
